How did you begin the career of a pastry chef?
Due to circumstances, I left the career of a sales manager for a successful German company and got a job at one of the best confectioneries in Celje. At first, I was responsible for preparing homemade Italian ice cream (gelato) and ice cream cakes, then later upgraded my knowledge of the whole confectionery profession, both at home and abroad.
When you think of Café Evropa, what is your first thought?
Of a traditionally relaxing atmosphere, where guests can enjoy with family or friends and indulge wonderful desserts. Long tradition shows, how popular gathering place for different generations it is, so it is even more important to cater to all different tastes.
What’s so special about sour cherry cake?
Sour cherries in 9 different ways – a combination of different sour cherry preparation processes, be it cooking, baking, drying or candying. It is important that we do not change the traditional taste, so guests always get the perfect piece of juicy sour cherry cake.
